She has published widely - book reviews, academic monographs, and book reviews - on 18th, 19th, 20th and 21st century English and Japanese literature as well as 'creative non-fiction' articles about her life in Japan. She is the wife of a Japanese farmer and the mother of three sons. She was a full-time professor of English literature and language at a private Japanese university for thirty-six years, retiring in the spring of 2020, when she moved to the UK, alternating her residence between Japan and England.
